Hospice Palliative Care FIRST: A Month of Action

CHPCA's Hospice Palliative Care FIRST: A Month of Action running from October 8 to November 10 asks Canadians to advocate for quality hospice palliative care at their local, regional and national levels and act as champions for end-of-life care in Canada!

Each week has its own theme:

Week 1 International and Pediatric Hopsice Palliative Care October 8-14
Week 2 Advance Care Planning October 15-21
Week 3 What is Hospice Palliative Care October 22-28
Week 4 Call to Action October 29-November 10

By registering to become a HOSPICE PALLIATIVE CARE CHAMPION, you will receive continued information, resources, and support. You will also become part of a movement to promote better access to hospice palliative care and the palliative approach to primary care; support for caregivers; research, training and education; and advance care planning.

Take Action! Commit to doing any of the following 8 actions:

  1. Sign up to be an HPC Champion above and keep checking back to  chpca.net/MONTH for more information and resources;
  2. Participate in @CanadianHPCAssn ’s #HPCMonth of Action Thunderclapcampaign;
  3. Using social media, “like” and retweet our posts and post your own content using #HPCMonth and #soinspalliatifs;
  4. Plan a community awareness event –  promote HPC, honour your volunteers, educate members;
  5. Write and submit articles to newspapers or create online posts for your own websites;
  6. Write Op-Ed pieces from your organizations to submit to national newspapers
  7. Submit articles to ehospice; and
  8. Write or meet with your MLA (provincial)/MPs (federally) using one of the template letters below or your own.
