NBHPCA 2010 Peter Somerville Memorial Bursary

Amount: One Grant of up to $500.00

The Peter Somerville Memorial Bursary (1952-2008) was established to honor the memory of Peter Graeme Somerville who was a long standing, dedicated member of the New Brunswick Hospice Palliative Care Association (NBHPCA). During his involvement with NBHPCA, we were fortunate to have Mr. Somerville serve on the Executive in a variety of positions. At the time of his death, Mr. Somerville was the New Brunswick representative on the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association conference (CHPCA) Board of Directors.

Purpose:
To provide financial support to a member of the NBHPCA who wishes to attend the 2010 CHPCA conference.

Criteria and guidelines:

  1. Any 2010 NBHPCA member is eligible to apply for this grant.
  2. Applicants must submit a written report (less than 250 words) explaining what palliative care means to them and what benefit they feel they will receive by attending the CHPCA conference.
  3. One applicant will be chosen.
  4. The successful applicant will be notified before the end of June 2010.
  5. A copy of the paid registration and proof of attendance must be submitted before the funds are allocated.
  6. The grant can only be used to attend the 2010 CHPCA conference.
  7. The successful applicant will provide a written summary of the conference to the Chair of the Education Subcommittee within two months of attendance of the conference.
  8. The written conference summary will be shared with members.

La Bourse à la mémoire de Peter Somerville (1952-2008) a été créée en commémoration de Peter Graeme Somerville, membre dévoué de longue date de l’Association des soins palliatifs du Nouveau-Brunswick (ASPNB). Au fil des années qu’il a passées à l’ASPNB, M. Somerville nous a fait bénéficier de son engagement à divers postes au sein du Comité exécutif. À sa mort, il était représentant du Nouveau-Brunswick au conseil d’administration de l’Association canadienne de soins palliatifs (ACSP).

Apporter du soutien financier à un membre de l’ASPNB (Association des Soins Palliatifs du Nouveau Brunswick) qui souhaite assister au congrès 2010 de l’ACSP (Association Canadienne des Soins Palliatif)

Critères et lignes directives :

  1. Tous les membres en règle de l’ASPNB en 2010 sont admissibles.
  2. Les candidats doivent soumettre une lettre (de moins de 250 mots) expliquant ce que les soins palliatifs signifient pour eux, et précisant les avantages qu’ils croient pouvoir tirer de leur participation au congrès.
  3. Un seul candidat sera choisi.
  4. Le candidat retenu sera avisé de la décision avant la fin du mois de juin 2010.
  5. Une copie du reçu pour le paiement des droits d’inscription et une preuve de présence au congrès devront être fournies avant le versement des fonds.
  6. La bourse peut seulement être utilise pour participer au congrès de l’ASPNB 2010.
  7. Le gagnant de la bourse devra soumettre un sommaire écrit de la conférence à la présidente du sous-comité d’éducation en dedans de deux mois après avoir assisté à la conférence.
  8. Le résumé écrit sera partagé avec les membres du comité de l’ ASPNB.
