2007 Recipient:  Dr. David Roy
A champion in the field of hospice palliative care in Canada, Dr. David Roy has been recognized by the CHPCA Board of Directors for his contribution to hospice palliative care in Canada.  A Research Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal, Dr. Roy is the founder and director of the Centre for Bioethics at the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal. He is also founder, director and coordinator of the Quebec Research Network in Clinical Ethics, and Editor-in-Chief of "The Journal of Palliative Care."  Dr. Roy is an international leader in the ethics of palliative care who has been forceful in identifying the need for a global ethic on palliative care.



2006 Recipient:  The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus – Grand Prior of Canada

In 2006 the CHPCA Champion Award was presented to The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus – Grand Prior of Canada.

The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus is a bilinqual ecumenical and charitable organization with over five thousand members worldwide.  The Order has made positive difference in 

the quality of life of Canadians facing a life-threatening illness and  their loved ones, and it has had great impact on the hospice palliative care movement in Canada . The Order’s initial support for the development of ‘A Caregiver’s Guide: A Handbook about End-of-Life Care’ in partnership with the Alberta Hospice Palliative Care Association, has grown into a national resource in four languages adapted for use across Canada.
