Hospice PEI (Hospice Palliative Care Association of PEI)

More Information

Our Mission

To provide care and support to those living with or dying from a life-threatening illness and to those who are bereaved.

*Please note that we are a part of an Integrated Palliative Care Team that is made up of Doctors, Nurses, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Music Therapists, Home Nursing Support. We have most of the above listed services available within the Integrated Palliative Care Team of PEI. However, the Hospice Palliative Care Association of PEI is only one player on this team and we do not direct the
entire team. The overall team director would be our palliative care
medical director, Dr. Mireille Lecours.

What are your admission/referral criteria?

A client is terminally ill and they are in their final year of life.

The client has to be in agreement to receive our services.

How would you answer the following question if asked by a patient, client, resident and/or family?

"What can you do for me?"

We can provide trained volunteers who provide care and support to you and your family. Our volunteers are available to visit in the hospital, long term care facility, palliative care unit and in your home. Our volunteers will provide respite for family members. Hospice palliative care is comforting, conversing, listening, reading, meditation, walking, driving patients to appointments, and doing those small things that help bring peace of mind. There is no charge for any of our services.
