Hospice Care Ottawa, an amalgamation of Friends of Hospice Ottawa and the Hospice at May Court, is a registered charity dedicated to providing supportive hospice palliative care services in Ottawa.  Both organizations came together to broaden hospice palliative care services to the Ottawa community.

Our Mission

We accompany and support individuals and their families through their end-of-life journey by providing compassionate high quality care.

What are your admission/referral criteria?

  • Life threatening diagnosis
  • Within Ottawa region
  • Self-referral
  • Referral through the CCAC (Champlain Community Care Access Centre)
  • Local hospitals, family doctors, health service organizations

Referrals to our community based hospice programs can be made by anyone.
To make a referral to our Central Ottawa or Ottawa East programs and services, please contact 613-260-2906 ext.226
To make a referral to our Ottawa West or Rural Ottawa programs and services, please contact 613-591-6002 ext. 22

Admission to one of our hospice residences can be made by a health professional through our hospice palliative care and central triage office at Bruyère Continuing Care.  Please contact 613-562-6262 ext. 4063 for more information.

Hospice Care Ottawa’s staff and trained volunteers provide and facilitate access to compassionate care for people with life threatening illnesses, offering support options, honouring choices and supporting their families and friends.

Our services include:

Residential Care Program provides end-of-life care in the final weeks of a person's illness, and support for their family at the Hospice 's bed home-like facility.

In-Home Volunteer Support Program offers emotional support and practical help to patients facing a life-threatening illness who are being cared for at home.

Day Hospice Program
provides diversion, support and respite to patients and their families, as well as access to care and assessment.

Family Support Program offers counselling to caregivers who look after someone with a life-threatening illness and to the bereaved who have lost a family member.
