Canuck Place Children's Hospice

More Information

Canuck Place is a caring, innovative children’s hospice and community-based service that fully embraces the life of each child and family.

We provide leadership in improving pediatric palliative care regionally, nationally and internationally through collaboration, education and research.

Whether a life is measured in days, weeks, or months, children deserve the opportunity to learn, develop and grow. Canuck Place encourages each child to ‘embrace life’ and believes in enhancing the quality of whatever time a child may have left by empowering them to live fully and joyfully.

What are your admission/referral criteria?

  • Ages 0 – 19 (also accept pre-natal referrals for fetal diagnoses)
  • Progressive, life threatening illness not expected to live into full adulthood. Care is available at any stage of a child’s illness
  • Reside in B.C.

Anyone can refer as long as family consents to referral (physician or other health care provider referral not required).

How would you answer the following question if asked by a patient, client, resident and/or family?

“What can you do for me?”

When a child in British Columbia is diagnosed with a progressive, life-limiting illness, Canuck Place can provide pediatric palliative care services for both the child and the entire family. Services are available across the continuum of care (hospice, hospital, home, clinic) and include: pain & symptom management & clinical care, respite care, transition care, child/family support & counseling, end-of-life care, and bereavement care.
