Greetings! It’s
our week in the limelight for 2006! We hope you are as thrilled about
this year’s campaign as we are at CHPCA. With
your help and dedication to continued leading edge hospice palliative
care awareness and services in Canada, we are continuing to move forward
to achieving the goal of quality end-of-life care for every Canadian!
This year’s national campaign also features a new national sponsor:
Bayshore Home Health. With the continued support of our founding
sponsor, The GlaxoSmithKline Foundation and again this year, the
financial support of Health Canada, we again expect great results for
this year’s campaign. National
Hospice Palliative Care Week is an occasion for Canadians from all walks
of life, beliefs and values to reflect on the importance of quality of
life in the last stages of life. 2006 marks the start of a multi-year
campaign focusing on Advance Care Planning. This year’s theme: “My
Living, My Dying. Informed, Involved and In-Charge… Right to the
End!” truly captures the pressing need for Canadians to discuss their
end-of-life wishes with their loved ones, friends, family and doctor. The
week also serves as an opportunity to showcase your work and your
achievements. The work for each palliative care program or service in
Canada is our greatest strength. The awareness you create locally helps
CHPCA in determining our goals and measures of success nationally.
Together, we are truly Power in Numbers! If
you plan or if you are hosting an event during NHPCW 2006, we would be
interested in finding our more about it (i.e pictures, description,
attendees). The national coordinator will showcase your events and
initiatives in his final report and on the CHPCA website. Please contact

a great Week!
