“Caregiving
– The Many Gifts that all Caregivers Bring”
May
3 – 9, 2004 Honourary
Patron Statement - 2004 Welcome
to our official week! This
is our time to celebrate, recognize and share the achievements of
hospice palliative care in your community and throughout the nation.
This year we are celebrating Caregivers and the variety of gifts and
strengths they bring when caring for someone at the end of life.
Caregivers are professionals (paid or volunteer), family and
friends – those incredible people who make a difference to the
end-of-life journey. As
you plan your National Hospice Palliative Care Week events around this
theme and those very important people, we at the Canadian Hospice
Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) have drawn together some resources
to assist you. We at CHPCA,
in conjunction with our national advisory committee, which consists of
provincial representation from various provinces, have strived to bring
you tools that will assist in highlighting your achievements and
promoting hospice palliative care awareness. Please
use these resources freely and share them with others as you spread the
message during national hospice palliative care week and throughout the
year. The
2004 Information Kit includes the following items:
Print Materials ·
National Posters and Bookmarks – distributed in mid March to
all programs and services registered with the National Directory of
Hospice Palliative Care Services. · Copies of the Living Lessons® “A Guide for Caregivers” – available from the CHPCA office by faxing a request to 613-241-3986

the Media Audio/Visual
Resources ·

is an exciting and interesting time in the evolution of hospice
palliative in Canada. As
you approach your celebrations of National Hospice Palliative Care Week,
we ask you to use this opportunity to enhance your momentum to keep
hospice palliative care issues in front of the decision makers, and in
the arena of public awareness. The
celebration of successes gives a powerful message! Please
let us know how effective they have been. Your valuable feedback shapes
our future planning in the important area of end-of-life caregiving. Gael
